A pontoon boat is a flat-decked boat supported by two or three buoyant aluminum tubes (pontoons). The flat deck creates a stable, spacious platform ideal for entertaining, family time, fishing, swimming, and cruising. Pontoons are the most popular type of recreational boat in the United States because they offer more usable space, more comfortable seating, and more stability than traditional hulled boats — at a lower price point and with simpler ownership.
Pontoons deliver the best combination of comfort, capacity, stability, and value of any recreational boat category. The flat deck and wide footprint mean more passengers, more lounging space, and a smoother, more stable ride — especially important for families with kids, older adults, or anyone prone to seasickness. Pontoons are easier to dock, easier to maintain, and far more versatile than the same-priced runabout or cuddy cabin. For most lake and river use, a pontoon is simply more boat for the money.
Whisper Marine pontoon boats typically range from around $15,000 for entry-level cruise models to $60,000+ for premium tritoon (three-tube) models with high-horsepower motors, premium audio, advanced navigation, and full luxury packages. Because we manufacture our pontoons in Michigan and sell factory-direct through Whisper Outdoor’s national network, our pricing typically runs significantly below comparably equipped pontoons sold through traditional marine dealers.
Pontoon length and tube count drive the recommendation. 15–20 ft pontoons are ideal for smaller lakes and 4–6 person family use. 21–23 ft pontoons are the most popular size — comfortable for 8–10 passengers with room for full loungers, captain’s chairs, and a changing room. 23+ ft pontoons (often configured as tritoons with three tubes) handle larger water, higher horsepower, watersports, and 10+ passengers. A traditional pontoon rides on two aluminum tubes; a tritoon rides on three. The third tube adds buoyancy, stability, and significantly higher horsepower capability — meaning faster top speeds, better watersports performance (skiing, tubing, wakeboarding), and a smoother ride in choppy water. Tritoons typically cost more but deliver the kind of performance most owners eventually want. If you’re undecided, ask your local showroom about test rides on both.

Pontoon delivery is coordinated directly through Whisper Outdoor and your local showroom. Most boats are delivered on a trailer to your home, marina, or dealership pickup location. Our team coordinates timing, handles trailer paperwork, and walks you through the boat at delivery. If you need help with first-launch logistics, slip rentals, or trailering basics, your showroom team can connect you with local resources.
Pontoons are typically the largest single purchase Whisper Outdoor customers make, and our financing program is built for it. We offer three paths: in-house financing with a 100% approval rate and terms up to 180 months — meaningful for higher-ticket purchases; third-party financing through Huntington and Octane for buyers who qualify for traditional bank rates. Most applicants receive a decision within 1 business day of applying online or at any of our 90+ retail showrooms.
